Attention AASD Families,
Are you considering enrolling in a Cyber Charter School for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year?
We invite you to read further.
The Athens Area School District proudly offers its own K-12 online academy, developed and tailored by AASD, with instruction delivered by our dedicated AASD educators. This program allows your child to engage in extra-curricular activities, field trips, clubs, and ultimately graduate with an Athens diploma.
Our online program has been successfully operational for the past six years, providing alternative education to hundreds of students and fostering their success throughout K-12.
Did you know that sending your child to a Pennsylvania cyber charter school outside of our district costs between $12,000 and $24,000 per student? This financial burden is passed on to our district, resulting in taxpayer responsibility for these fees. Currently, these costs exceed $700,000, and continued growth could impose an unnecessary strain on our community and increase the need for tax raises.
Our WOLA Academy offers a highly flexible program, staffed by AASD teachers with significant educational expertise and training in online instruction. Local certified teachers provide support throughout your studies.
Benefits of our program include:
- A safe and supportive learning environment
- District technical support
- A diverse range of academic courses aligned with Pennsylvania Core standards
- Access to school counselors for student support, guidance, and assistance with college and career aspirations
- Availability of additional staff members and student services
- Opportunities to participate in district extra-curricular clubs, sports, and activities
- Participation in all AASD-sponsored events, including field trips and additional activities
- Seamless transition back into the classroom at any point
