Dear Athens Area School District Families, 

 

The U.S. Secretary of Agriculture recently announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will extend several flexibilities for school meals throughout the remainder of 2020.   The USDA stated, “As our nation reopens and people return to work, it remains critical our children continue to receive safe, healthy, and nutritious food.”  

 

Simply put, this program expands on our current Community Eligibility Program (CEP) program and is available to all students AND all children who reside in the Athens Area School District and are either not school age or are school age and are currently enrolled elsewhere outside of the district.  The program is currently slated to run until December 31, 2020 or until funding is no longer available.
