music elements

The items on this page are here to help you develope your musical skills.

Class reminders: When writing notes remember what side the stems go on and when they go up and when they go down.

Remember in the treble clef. Each line and space of the staff has a letter name in relation to its clef sign.

The first 7 letters of the alphabet are used in naming the lines and spaces of both clefs.

For treble clef the four spaces spell the word FACE (remember to start at the bottom and go up)

For the treble clef lines you may want to use a poem. Use the first letter of each word of your poem to match the lines. In class we used these

Empty Garbage Before Dad Flips

Evil Gummy Bears Die First (or Dances Fridays)

The bass clef will be coming soon.

We are now studying the BASS Clef like the treble clef each line and space as a letter name in relation to the clef. You may want to use a poem to help learn the lines and spaces

For spaces - All Cows Eat Grass

For Lines - Grandma Brown Dances Friday Afternoons

melody (copy)

Professor Owl talks about the importance of melody in life, which he claims is only present in two animals: birds and humans. His interest lies in the latter, as he follows the human life cycle and illustrates different places you can find melody. This was the first American animated 3-D film; here it is only offered in 2-D.

You may use this for extra credit - view and write a 5 paragraph essay on "What is Melody?". You must also hand in a sandwish graphic organizer with your essay
