This is a research article that I wrote last spring. This points out the need for all learners to build what is called prior knowledge. It is also called "experience". Regardless of age, gathering prior knowledge helps us with our decision making. Middle schoolers are at a crucial age where their capacity for learning expands rapidly and the acquisition of a knowledge base is paramount.
