Controlled Environment and Life Support Unit (CELS)
The CELS Unit's major purpose is to provide life support for Marsville, population 30. Life support involves growing food in a controlled environment, collecting oxygen given off by growing plants, collecting and storing edible foods and dealing with waste products that result from growing food.
The Russian space program has done extensive research in the area of controlled environment life support systems making them the logical choice to design the CELS Unit.
