Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary. --Steve Jobs

Kindergarten

What literacy skills will kindergarteners be working on?

Some basic skills we hope all kindergarteners master are:

  • letter identification
  • letter/sound identification
  • recognizing/naming rhyming words
  • hearing the first, middle and last sounds in words

Once students know some letter/sounds they will be writing (Kid Writing) and reading words!

SIGHT WORDS - are words that students need to know 'on sight' or automatically. usually they are 'high frequency' words - they appear in text very often.

Click here for some activities to do at home with the sight words.

Keep it fun so your child enjoys working with the words.
