ATHENS BOROUGH COMMUNITY MEETING SCHEDULED - TO DISCUSS IDEAS FOR REBUILDING

Athens, PA – Residents, neighbors, business owners, students and visitors of Athens are invited to a public meeting to be held on Monday, December 12. The Athens Borough Long-Term Community Recovery team urges all interested stakeholders to bring their best ideas for rebuilding a safer, stronger, more sustainable community. The team works in partnership with the state of Pennsylvania and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

A vision workshop will be held where residents and stakeholders can share ideas for a renewed community. The meeting will begin at 6:30 PM and will be held at the Athens Area High School Cafeteria, 401 West Frederick Street in Athens, PA.

“The meeting is an important step in developing a revitalized community,” Committee member Scott Riley, said. “This is an opportunity for anyone who cares about Athens to come together and paint a common vision for moving forward.” Community members will learn about the long-term community recovery program, have the opportunity to voice their hopes and vision for the future development of their community and help to outline the next steps forward.
