HAPPENINGS!

MARCH IS NATIONAL NUTRITION MONTH!  There are so many resources available on-line to help us all give our diets the healthy kick they need.  See some links below!

March 5 - 9 is NATIONAL SCHOOL BREAKFAST WEEK.  We will be doing some special events and offering some special items for breakfast.  REMEMBER, we serve breakfast EVERY DAY in each of our cafeterias.

SPECIAL EVENTS:

Friday, March 2: READ ACROSS AMERICA DAY, celebrating the wonders of reading and DR. SEUSS' BIRTHDAY!  Check the elementary/SRU menu for our special Seuss-ified lunch with a special dessert!

Friday, March 16:

In the elementary schools, it's our St. Patrick's day menu with some special green foods and LUCKY TRAY DAY

At HRJH and the High School, it's "Go for the Greens" day along with our St. Patrick's Day celebration!  Students and staff will be treated to free samples of green fruits and vegetables at lunch, and will be able to complete our fruit and vegetable trivia for prizes!

The Food Service Department at AASD is proudly managed by The Nutrition Group, Alice F. Bennett, R.D., Food Service Director.

For directions on how to sign up for the free service, "MY SCHOOL ACCOUNT," scroll down this page.

To order celebration party foods through the school, open the birthday party flyer to the left!

FREE and REDUCED MEAL FORMS MUST BE FILLED OUT EVERY YEAR.  YOUR STUDENT'S MEAL STATUS DOES NOT CARRY OVER, SO NEW FORMS MUST BE TURNED IN.  PLEASE - if you think that your student might qualify for free or reduced meals, turn in the application!  No one knows if a student is receiving a free or reduced meal - only the computers in the cafeteria, so the program is completely private.

Meals must be paid for before they are taken or when they are taken.  Students who owe any amount to the cafeteria account are not allowed to purchase anything extra from our wellness-policy approved ala carte selections or super portions of lunch until their accounts are not in the negative.

To log on to MY SCHOOL ACCOUNT, click on "cafeteria menus" on the left-hand side of this webpage for the link.  Use your student's Athens ID# for "My School Account."  (You can get the student ID # from the school office, the cafeteria managers, or the Food Service Director.)  When you sign up for the FREE program "My School Account, " you can look at your student's cafeteria activity and set up email notifications for low balances.   You can also pay on line, with credit card only, through "My School Account." If you have problems with the "My School Account, " please contact FSS by email as they prefer at support@myschoolaccount.com.

Cafeteria PAYMENT:  Pre-payment is preferred and keeps your student's account up-to-date!  You may pay by cash, check or on-line at My School Account.  If sending payment to school with your child, please put the payment in a sealed envelope with the child's name, date and amount of payment on the front of the envelope.   When paying by check, put the child's first and last name in the comments section of the check.  You may use one check to pay for mutiple students, but please note the amount to go to each student in the comment area of the check.  Make checks to Athens Cafeteria.  Students who owe on their cafeteria account will not be allowed to purchase extra portions or ala carte items, and those above elementary level will be given a cold sandwich (cheese or peanut butter and jelly) as the entree in their cafeteria meal at the cost of the regular meal.

LOOKING FOR A PART TIME JOB FOR SOME SPARE CASH?  NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED!  Consider being a cafeteria substitute worker.  Most sub "days" are 2 hour or 3 hours shifts.  We are always using subs in our six cafeterias, and when we hire permanent workers, we do so from those who have subbed.  If interested, contact Lisa Horton at the District Office which is now located at Athens High School.
