The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the key to accessing most financial aid for college. Learn everything you need to know about the FAFSA in less than an hour without leaving your home. With this webinar, you'll gain a better understanding of each section of the FAFSA so you can best help your student complete it.

The FAFSA webinar will be conducted by the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA).

FAFSA Completion WebinarYou must complete the FAFSA to qualify for:

  • Federal and most state grants, scholarships, low-cost student loans, and work-study programs.
  • Pennsylvania State Grant Program.
  • Many school-based student aid programs.

FAFSA Deadlines
Make sure you know your individual financial aid deadlines. They can vary by your school, location, program of study, and more.

  • The FAFSA can be completed after January 1.
  • For the Pennsylvania State Grant, the deadline is May 1 for degree programs.
  • IMPORTANT! Even if you miss a deadline, still complete and submit the FAFSA. There may be the possibility of late awards.

Young Men’s Choral Festival

On Friday, October 31st Rohnin Bishop proudly represented Athens High School at the 15th annual Young Men’s Choral Festival which was held at Mansfield University.  The festival is an event which brings 150 boys in 7th, 8th and 9th grade together for a day of singing.  The boys were required to learn their music ahead of time, and then refined it during day long rehearsals.  They then presented a concert that afternoon conducted by their guest director, Stephen M. Fisher.

Athens Vocalist is going to Districts

On Sunday, October 19, auditions were held for PMEA District 8 chorus.  Students prepared a piece of music and then were required to perform any section of that piece given only the starting pitch.  All Athens students performed proudly, and one was chosen to attend District chorus.

Daniel “DJ” Reynolds auditioned on Tenor 2 and placed 9th out of 42 students on his voice part.  He will be representing Athens High School at the District Festival at Shikellamy High School on January 22-24.  Wish him luck as he prepares for the festival and then auditions again for Regional Chorus.  Great job DJ!
